General Description: Tradition combined with modernity is what you will get at The Elgin. The Elgin Hotel is 120 year old and was the residence of the Maharaja of Cooch Bihar. From 1911 AD to 1930 AD, John William Pavion and his wife Edith Agnes Pavion took the building on rent to run the hotel. After that, Margaret Walker ran the hotel from 1930 to 1947. Finally, the hotel was passed on to Nancy Oakely. The guests are greeted by draping a silken Khada around the neck in typical Himalayan tradition.
